Though I was supposed to explore charcoal for a while, I broke the trend to express the deep inspiration and admiration gathered from multiple errands to different crafts fairs at different places in Kolkata.
The artisans selling their art work and at the same time effortlessly creating new ones - it was a sight to behold and I bow my head to their talent. The Madhubani Paintings seem to be the hot cake this season (and all the seasons).
For this piece, I have used the black matte paper which I actually had bought for exploring while charcoal - but thought of inaugurating with this -
Painting on black paper is tougher than I had assumed. It was hard to bring the color contrast - or may be I was not using the right colors. Madhubani art form apparently looks like disproportionate - but on closer look, they are extremely right on proportion with an unparalleled simple visual appeal. Overall I am happy with this one and plan to do similar experiment in near future.

It is just too good sudeepta. The colours are looking vibrant in the black background. I love madhubani art, and you have done full justice to this art form. 👌
