Its often said, if the artist is not in love with the character(s) of her creation, its of no worth.
May be, because of my true, deep and sincere admiration for her, despite my technical limitation, I am done with probably my best painting in recent times.
About one year ago when I had met her, I told her that I want to be at least 10% of her, and smilingly she replied "Beta, I hope and pray you will be 110% of me!" THIS is the sign of a true leader - encouraging and appreciating the potential in others, unlike some pseudo-intellectuals who think confusing and criticizing someone who dares to dream different is very cool.
Somebody asked her, "Mam, you were a better student and a better techie than your husband. How does it feel when today he seems to be more successful than you to the world?" - again she smiled and asked "what is success?".
Since that day, whenever somebody said.."ohh...you mean Narayan Murthy's wife?", I smilingly replied, "yes, I mean her, Sudha Murthy"
If I keep on writing about her, I will go on endlessly. So I will stop with quoting one of my most favorite lines of her “Usually, people who are sensitive need more time to understand the real world.”
Coming, to the technical side, as I have confessed at the beginning, it was very challenging for my capacity - and in the new year I resolve to take professional lessons on charcoal portrait painting.
