Candle making fun continues. Here is the result of my experiment -
This was real find to make.
Materials used : Medium size paper coffee cups, paraffin wax, candle wick ,crayon colors and aromatic candle oil.
How to make : First melt a chunk of wax in an aluminium container by double boiler method ( put a pot with water on the gas and hold the wax container on the boiling water). When the wax turns into a transparent liquid - put a chunk of crayon color of your choice. I have used blue. Stir well - so that the color mixes well in the wax. Set the wax aside to harden. Repeat this process for as many colors as you want, I have done for two colors - blue and then red.
Now take the colored chunks of wax and break them into smaller pieces - the more rough are the edges - better for the candle. I have used a small hammer to break the wax. Keep different color wax pieces in separate bowls.
Now take a paper cup - make a small whole at the bottom of it and push the candle wick in and out. Keep about a quarter of inch of wick at the bottom and fix it with a black tape at the bottom of the cup. Smear oil on the inner surface of the cup and put in the colored wax pieces as you like, but be careful to leave as less empty place as possible - I have arranged with alternate layers of red and blue. Make sure the candle wick is placed straight and at the middle. Now melt wax again, put 3/4 drops of aromatic candle oil and gently pour molten colorless wax into the cup - up to the length of the colored wax pieces. Set aside and let it dry for preferably overnight.
When the wax is completely dry and hard, remove the black tape from the bottom and tear away the paper cup. Cut the extra wick from both the sides.
Scented Mosaic Candle is ready !
