The colors of rain

Adding some more randomness to the site -

Many days ago I had bought a filthy expensive box of 'Conte a Paris' soft pastels but never tried anything with it until yesterday. My first ever soft pastel trials on paper

Technically, I have hard a lot of amazing things about soft pastels - like they are extremely liberating to work with, the way the colors smug and mix with each other is a pleasure to the artist - admitting all these insight, in the first attempt - I must admit that I was very taken aback. The colors have so sharp edges - I had no clue how to achieve precision. The colors - when applied - leave a lot of residual dust - not sure how to clean them off or while cleaning if they would take away some value out of the painting. The dust induces some allergic reaction in me as well. And soft pastel work made me more worried about procuring a good fixative than anything else. Guess, I need to read or watch videos to know more about this medium - and that makes to look forward to it!
